Nadin contrasts the global world we all live in today with the very local events of his early adult life in Romania. He recalls the good times he shared with good friends, the places they visited on their vacation hiking expeditions and holiday celebrations. He concludes by praising the feeling of togetherness they shared. “Today we celebrate” harks back to a carol he heard one Christmas, among friends, in a village in Maramures, where the celebration combined old pagan and Christian rituals, and the customary apples, nuts and delicious stuffed cabbage.
